Why i stopped buying BRAND NEW gears part 1
I think i post this many many many many times already ..on Jamtank/i-bands
anyway ,once in a while , i have some people telling me stuffs like
“bro gap , have you check out the guitar store’s deal? seriously , damn cheap wei their stuff , can beat Musician friends prices”
“eh bro , head down to Singapore la …you heard of Swee Lee ? damn cheap man , that time i saw the ibanez RG666 selling at 666SGD”
“Dude , you know this feller from Penang SPOILING the market kao kao ..so cheap..can even buy and resell “
Ok.Whatever-lah , i don’t give a damn ..why?
its been more than 3-4 years since i stopped buying brand new gears …
Even if you give me Musicianfriend price lah bro . Lets say …. 749USD for a Schecter C1 Classic ..Korean made ? a very strong value for money guitar …
Why pay RM2500 when you can get Something better for the same amount of money? with some small scratches lah of course ..
with that money , i could get ..lets see..a Used MIJ Fender Strat with U.S pickups ?
Or a Used Orville Les paul Japanese Vintage lawsuit guitar ?
Or maybe a Used Ibanez Prestige ..?
you see….even if you lower the price of a Schecter C1 classic to 650 USD ..still no point lah..coz it is STILL A Korean made ..i can always add another RM300 to get a JAPANESE MADE GUITAR ..
Oh btw , Japan Guitars will always > Korean made …(except for certain MIJ Jackson) In case you didn’t know.
Not Only guitars ..Even Pedals ..
Why pay this Amount ? when you can get it for MUCH LESSER .. with Almost the same condition ?

9/10 Condition Used TS9DX ..much lower than RM480 .
Why pay RM360 for a NEW BOSS OD-3 Made in Taiwan , When you can get a used Ibanez TS9DX Made in Japan ..at almost the same price ?
Pay RM360 for a BOSS TAIWAN MADE PEDAL ? or ..just ..
find something that is MADE IN JAPAN in the used market …

BTW you did not mention about the amount of bread that goes to enrich endorsers when you buy brand new; let someone take that hit.
Not to mention that brand new axes depreciates right at the very second you buy it whilst vintage MIJs appreciates the longer you keep it.
And talk about build and material quality… wonder why some vintage MIJs have doubled in value despite these hard times?
We’ve seen brand new axes hitting the dumps right after the turmoil. Having it setup every six months is not only pain in the ass but baloons yer cost. Guess where the money supposedly called “quality” goes? material or endorser?
The market speaks… listen.
