Hi, I’m Shin. I’m eighteen this year, living in Penang. I found ur blog when I was looking for guitar lesson’s information. I would like to know more about learning guitar. I have one at home, mum brought me few years ago, but I was too busy with school life. Now, I have time. So I’m thinking of taking guitar lesson. It had been my dream to play and sing along with it. Unfortunately, I had wasted most of my time doing nothing. So, I wish to do something new. Would it be too old for me to learn guitar? coz I heard most people learn only during young ages.

There is a fantastic live music venue in the Queensbay area called ‘Queens Bistro & Kafe’.

Since they opened in early 2009 they have only used local bands.

They are currently re-branding themselves as a ‘rock & soul’ venue.

On Feb 2nd they got quite a famous band from Penang playing there they are called ‘M.O.L Shidee Data’ (from DATA fame).

You should get down there & check it out, the place rocks man!

I was looking for music course and stumble on your blog- sounds immature. Blogs from 8,9 months back is not valid is it- sounds stupid to me. Likewise SPM, you need to recall the last 4 years of study and be tested on, you seem to lack wisdom and logic. What can people expect, you are only a music teacher, I mean guitar teacher and a music store. So you are saying then you need to polish his balls now you turn your back and don’t even look. Gosh! LBS is no stranger to locals. Penang guys call him mainlander guy meaning he is not from Penang Island and so are his staff so some differences are expected. People here call it “38-38″ lah. To locals who know and musicians. LBS sucks big time. I think you should research the term MAINLAND PEOPLE. There will be no tomorrow is there wasn’t a yesterday - Gapnap. You are still very green. When you have the time - do interview the staff, you’ll get alot of laughters. The Manager told me that they sued to sell bricks and tiles. What do you expect! Just like tiles lor..Display a huge variety, if you buy Thailand tiles and they fade color later - then you kena beb! Where got Dominate market? There is no market lah in Penang. Ayah. do up nice nice, staff it nad sell it..to some unsuspecting fool lah…Ask him lah. He is very glad to sell you Evolution lah. Just observe how their staff passtime and do minimal for him…Whenever I go to Popular Bookstore I would peek and see what sort of weirdos is working there again. Always change staff. My students used to buy exam sheets from there.

Oh c’mon give gapnap a break..tembak him for what? He’s not from Penang mah, at least you guys can share your bad experience in this blog about these music shops. Firstly I am also from Penang, and thanks to you guys for bringing this to my attention about how shit LBS and EVO are. By the way, there’s also one music shop in Butterworth (Raja Uda), can’t remember the name of the shop. The owner is also call Lim, is he the same person that you guys mentioned. If yes, I too will stay away from him…haha
