If you buy a car in KL today , your car plate number will be “WTC XXXX”
Shit , i need to get a car soon . A few weeks time its gonna be “WTF XXXX”

If i have a business in China ..lets just say , SILK !
That is what we’re famous for right ? SILK ? Who doesn’t like Luxury ?
Problem is ..the locals aren’t supporting me . Business is not doing well .
Solution ? Simple , hire a marketing consultant ..
The marketing consultant tells me this “You are targeting the wrong audience , your target should be the FOREIGNERS (Tourist) , You can market it as “our specialty in China” , something that we are proud of ” kinda angle..”
He continues ,
So this is the plan ..
Gather all your best SALESMAN . Let them know their job isn’t gonna be that usual boring target , prospect routine anymore ..
We are gonna create a NEW STRATEGY for your company . All your salesman will be trained in our new program , called tour guide cum salesman .
So what is gonna happen ? The salesman will no longer tell people they are salesman , they are going to call themselves TOUR GUIDES..

We are going to approach Tour companies . Let them know that we will provide a Tour Agent for FREE when they stop by our city , oh yea , we will supply FREE LUNCH to the tourist too !
Of course the tour companies will listen …It is a win win situation , they get to save on tour man power and a meal , and we ..our hidden agenda
the total control , and manipulation of the tourist .
Once our Tour Guide (Salesman) engage the tourist (Particularly Malaysians and Singaporeans)
They are not suppose to talk about SILK and SALE. Instead , gain the tourist trust FIRST , Understand and Study them , talk to them , find out who is rich and who is not , target the power purchaser . A few tips :
1.Being completely honest on the first day
2.Be the super social guy , Make the tourist laugh , tell jokes etc .
3.Bring the tourist to the BEST SPOT in the city . Impress them . Leave them a good impression . (So that they will think your city produce good quality products)
4.Give them traveling tips , especially on what to buy and what not to buy (such as recommending nice sweets , shampoo etc and letting them know who’s the conman and who’s not)
5.Tell them stories such as :
“I was travelling to MALAYSIA , and i saw your MALAYSIAN made BATIK so cheap , you know in China its RM700 a piece”….which indirectly says “when you’re in China , buy Local China product , when you’re in Malaysia, buy MALAYSIAN product , and hey ! you’re in China ..”
“Me and my wife went shopping , She asked if she could buy that nice pearl . I said i am broke . After that she never asked me to buy anything ..she says she will save her own money , and i can feel her sadness every time she mentions it …i regretted ” …which indirectly says ” When your wife ask you to buy something , buy it ! ”
Or any stories that indirectly says :
Having a good time and spend more , you’re on HOLIDAY ! BUY BUY BUY !

After One whole day of fun , bring them back to the hotel . The next morning , repeat the routine above until 11am .
Bring all the TOURIST to the SILK FACTORY (by this time , the tourist already LIKED the salesman and TRUST him . The Salesman can say anything he wants and they will believe it.

11am : When everybody meets at the SILK Factory (including OTHER TOURS) , the business will be PACKED with people and customers (to create fear of loss)
This is the best time for the salesman to reveal himself , PUSH YOUR PRODUCTS ALL THE WAY . MAKE SURE ALL OF THEM BUY BUY BUY BUY . By then , the salesman should use his standard marketing tactic , “assume the sale” , “grab that credit card” , “which color do you like” etc..
Focus on the easiest target , especially WOMEN so that they can push their hubbys to buy ..
Start from selling something EXPENSIVE , after close , go for the cheaper stuff , pillow cases etc etc etc …

I am sorry , i just need to rant abit.
Tour guides give you 1 hour to shop at the standard shopping area , but if its a place that he/she could potentially earn some COMMISSION , you can stay at their shop for as long as 3 hours ..no shit , all the way until you buy.
At first , i thought these people were really passionate tour guides who enjoy what they do for a living , until i smell the salesman out of them when i reached the factory.
The trust is , i am not a demanding ass bitch customer , I am okay with them making a commission out of a sale . But what i am not okay with is the way it is done , how manipulative and dishonest it is . How i can only spent 1 hour in a Shanghai Street that i wanna go , but 3 hours in a frikkin Teapot , Tealeaves , Silk , Fengshui , Jewelery etc etc Factory . Good thing the tour didn’t last the WHOLE trip .
Sure , Tour Companies gives you value for money , 3 days stay @ RMXXX only . But they have the power to schedule your check in time to be @ 12am , and wake up call @ 6am …
They book a 6 hours room for you . Not a full day . A 6 hours hotel room in China is less than 100RMB.

Haha, this is why I don’t do tour guides. Backpacker style’s most enjoyable. Do some research online b4 you go, bring a GPS, and then rent a car or bike when you get there.

fortunately my friends r based in Shanghai so they took leave and brought us around.
i never like tour guides.
but when i was in chiangmai, the tour guide told us honestly that he was required to bring us to the stores. is ok not to buy. just go in, walk fast fast and come out. he needed the ‘stamps’, that’s all.

@Damien. That wouldn’t work . Because when i travel all i think of is guitar shops guitar shops and guitar shops . I will research all the frikkin guitar shops . And my gf will biatch about why are we going to Guitar shops only . LOL

@Alvin Lim . Well you were lucky , i spent 3 hours in a frikkin silk shop . I know the technique now , book a 2 weeks holiday . Go 1 week on tour , decide where you wanna go , spent the last 1 week on your own going to those places .
