Now or days , many people are into “i see a bigger picture”
That includes people who are into Illuminati , conspiracy theories , maybe gapnap guitar tips , standard of living , relationships etc..
Then they go on about “i pity people who don’t see the bigger picture”
Oh really?
What i think is ,
A person who “see’s the bigger picture” is actually in the same situation with another person who “doesn’t see the bigger picture”
Just that , the first person is slightly enlightened . You can say that he is a little bit smarter . But not too much . Maybe a little bit richer ? i don’t know .
In REALITY. Both of them are in the same shitty situation from same old background , eats the same chicken rice like you do , wear branded clothes like you but it is actually the blow out 50% 70% off sale , hates traffic jams and get pissed off with that Malaysian Driver . Just like me and you . The average chump.
Now , there are people who actually LIVE the bigger picture (There is a big difference between a person who sees a bigger picture , and LIVE a bigger picture). You see , a person who live the bigger picture Will NOT pity the person who see’s a smaller picture .
They are secretly jealous of them . Sometimes they thought to themselves ,
“Why is he worrying much lesser than me?”
“Why is he healthier than me?”
“Why is he less stressful than me”
“So what ? all the money i earned . I wanna do something i like”
****This is the beauty of being in the MUSIC INDUSTRY . You meet people from all different backgrounds , from the broke ass musician playing on the streets to big time millionaires who loves collecting guitars to an old grandpa playing a guitar singing about how much he misses his son . Music Brings people together .
Have you ever had the experienced of , seeing a kid who just started out guitar . You watched him and smile , and thought to yourself, “wow , this kid reminds of me of myself when i was young . God i miss those Old Days when i was trying to play my first F chord , beautiful “
In the guitar playing world , You are living the bigger picture , do you laugh and pity the kid ? no . You enjoy the moment .
Ask any OLD time Celebrity in the world , they will tell you they would rather live a normal life , free from paparazzi and fake friends .
Ask any old time CEO , CFO , big shots . They will tell you , “i rather relax and lecture in University” . Oh yea , that is why you can find many many ex-CEO Big shot turned humble lecturer .
Ask any old time high positioned Church Elder , They will tell you . ” i rather be a normal member , just attend my regular Sunday Service , maybe in charge of a little bible study group , that’s it , no worries ”
When i said OLD time , i mean BEEN THERE , DONE THAT kinda old time .
They lived a bigger picture . They felt the pain , realized how cruel the world is , saw the ugliness in what we perceived as beauty and they are sick with all that shitty politics . Because of their experience , they realized , the beauty of being average , the beauty of innocence , the beauty of ignorance and the beauty of being simple .
They , want to be us .
and we , want to be them .
Crazy right ?
These random thoughts , remind me of a story ..
A 19 years old kid got a job in a popular Club in KL .
He was working closely with the club’s house DJ . Let us name the DJ , DJ SASSY . DJ SASSY is a popular one . Everybody loves him , everybody knows him . SASSY was making 5 figures a month . Have loads of friends and one night stands . He was THE BOMB . THE CELEBRITY .
The kid and the DJ worked at night . The kid was trying to keep things professional . Treating his job as a job , nothing personal . BUT , In the morning , DJ SASSY would call him up , asked the kid for lunch . Go jalan jalan at shopping center to lepak . Doing nothing . JUST CHILL OUT . The kid thought he was into some gay hooking up shit .
Being open minded , the kid talked to DJ SASSY to find out why the hell is he asking him for a date? Then, after DJ SASSY open up , he realized . DJ SASSY’s celebrity lifestyle was lonely . People kiss his ass , hung out with him , because they want to be seen with him , or get free invites to the club VIP , chicks dig him for his money , his friends are not true friends .
DJ SASSY was just trying to make a GENUINE friend .
So yeah ,
Whether you become a rockstar or not
Whether you “make it ” or not
Whether you win the battle of the bands or not
Whether you succeed or not
It doesn’t matter . What matters is , you do what you wanna do , and be happy .
Chasing after the bigger picture and trying to be the best , will never end . There will always be somebody better than you , tougher than you , smarter than you , heck SEES A BIGGER PICTURE THAN YOU .
No matter how good you are , or how much you have , you can never have everything , and you will always want to have everything .
What is important is , you enjoy the Journey . be happy . always .
And what is happiness ? (i am not going to bore you with another happiness does not = material objects speech ) For those who think of getting “something” to gain happiness , i just wanna quote something by Margaret Lee Runbeck
Happiness is not a station you arrive at, but a manner of traveling.
If holding a guitar makes you happy , do it .
If shredding completes you , do it .
People may say “i pity you because you do not see a bigger picture” .
“Dude , you’ve been playing guitar for so long , why aren’t you getting anywhere?”
“Dude , you’re not improving at all “
“Can you sweep pick clean ?”
“Sloppy lah bro”
Its okay , who are they to judge you ? Only God can judge you .
Do not let them , steal that happiness and joy that you have .

Do you notice that , in this post , i am trying to see a bigger picture ? But in actual fact , i am just the same old horny guy just like everybody else . LOL. We humans are such amazing creatures cause we always contradict ourselves . In some areas in life we WANT to see a bigger picture , yet in some other areas in life , we THINK “aiya , don’t think so much lah , just do only lah” . And the best part is , we will never admit that we are seeing a smaller picture .

About the pictures :
At first i thought you stole the pictures from some chinese drama movie . then after i scroll down i realized it was your china trip picture and the whole thing was a performance and a setting. maybe i was too much concentrating on the bigger picture , and failed to see the smaller picture ? HELP

WHOA!! very very very good post! eh, very inspiring leh! u r true that people should enjoy what they do, be happy. no point climbing up the ladder if you don like it because at the end of the day, when u r the CEO or the world’s richest person, will u really truly be happy?
or will u prefer the old times when u love doing the small little seemingly useless stuff at home?
but well, grass always seems to b greener on the other side, if u never been there, u will not know how GREEN was the grass before this.
and well, i really respect Steve Jobs when he said “I dont want to be the richest guy on the planet. I want to create dreams for people” or something along that line. Maybe it’s just a marketing line but for me, that is the direction i m going towards – HOW…i donno.

Actually I have a real terror ride (turbulence) in a plane over Northeastern US once. Happiness for me WAS the airport I safely arrived at. LOL.
By the way, I think I’ve seen the big picture. It was hanging at the Agnes Bugera art gallery in Edmonton, Canada. No kidding.
