i dont think gapnap meant to be the jack of all trades n the master of none. its a changing industry, so you need to know what helps u do what u do best. take for example, i play guitar, but thats not enough because there are so many good session guitarists out there who can play well and write good material. But because i know how proper recording techniques, i can get a good tone in a studio, assuming there is budget, and if low budget, i know how to get a good tone at my home studio, and still export it out in a prepared pro tools session which is the standard to be used in studios and coloborate with other musicians. also learns how to midi program to provide the backing track as a rough idea for the client to hear and get a better picture.

does it mean that the guitarist now has to learn other skills and even another instrument is now a 'master of none'? i dont think so, its making yourself sell by having an advantage, complementing what you already do best.
