Guitar Shops in Padang , Indonesia
Okay , Padang , Indonesia is not a favorite place to source for guitars . There are NO guitar factories , NO big guitar shops , NO middlemen , NO agent etc.
But , It is a great place to source for EXOTIC WOOD and Small Custom Guitar Builders.

look what we found

ooo..this custom builder , owns a jamming studio too

Melvin raping the drums …shit , the background is kinda similar to Music Master . Indonesia copied us !

And , of course ….VINTAGE stuff ![]()

…probably one of the sweetest sounding strat i ever played .
Still , we made the effort to visit some of the medium size music shops in Padang , Indonesia . Let the pics do that talking …BEWARE ! LOTS OF PICS !
This is , the STREET of Music . Jalan Permuda .

Just like Jalan Imbi , all of em’ gather at one row .
YAMAHA , WAHANA MUSIK

An amp that caught my eye …i was like “WOW! Indonesian made AMPS !!” ..then i realized , this first amp marks the beginning of my new discovery
The amp retails for RM1.8k , head + cabinet . No shit .
Wahana Musik is Pretty much a Yamaha Franchise Store . Stock up lots of Yamahas , similar to Malaysia’s price .
STAR MUSIC

Okay , i didn’t enter this one because there was some gangster shit going outside the shop .
*just kidding , The shop was closed . Lazy to wait for it to open .
SARI MUSIK – Biggest in Padang , Indonesia .
Carries Schecter , Jack and Danny and Other Indonesian Copies .

me testing out an Indonesian Made LP copy . Rockstar pose mou ?
Schecters
Hmmmm…Malaysian price better lah for this .

Indonesia AMPS
.
Tora Amps

This is some EPIC shit , called TORA . retails at RM1800..
TORA reminds me when i was 7-8 years old . I used to beg my dad to buy for me “Tora” box . Inside the box , you can find chocolates and a free toy .
Silver Crest Amp

RCH Amps

Half stacks are crazy over here , and they are CHEAP ! All less than RM2000 !
Silungkang Sports & Music

This shop puts many many guys into shame …why ?

The Shop is run by ladies . WOMEN PAWN MEN in Padang Okay …
Pic : Melvin talking with the Lady Boss .

Reminds me of Woh Fatt lahh..what shit also got one !
MORE AMPS
Some Orange Copy …looks classy though

Russel Amps

yeap , that is pretty much most of it …
Final thoughts :
Will i bring in the guitars ? Nope. Wholesale price isn’t that good . Jakarta is better .
Will i bring in the amps ? Maybe , still finding a cheap way to ship it . Apparently , Indonesia has a popular shipping company called “Tiki” . Of course i have to factor in the bloody 25% + 10% Amplifier sales tax from our Malaysian Government . Not so cheap after all eh?
Will i get wood supplies ? definitely .
Will i get small custom guitar builders to OEM my guitars ? I don’t mind trying . But i would love to meet more small custom guitar builders to have more option before i commit anything .
Anyway , this trip is a great eye opener . Made alot of new Indonesian friends , and met shitloads of people .Now ..back to planning my Beijing and Jakarta Trip ..

hahaha , i am sorry i didn’t test out the solid state amps …as you can see , there are plastic covering the amps ! i was so intimidated by it ! hahha..
Well , another reason i wasn’t keen on testing it is ..i am a tube amp baby lover…:P i think those amps are solid state , or at least PRICED like a solid state amp LOL..ah well , i was too excited i went straight to testing the guitars
crap , i feel like i wasted my trip now ..i should had test it !
@Justin . Hahahaha , yeah i didn’t notice until you mention !! use rubber band tie guitar and hang it …good idea to start a shop , save on guitar wall hangers ..
@ghoster . That Indonesian Gold top ? Dude , seriously its FREAKING GOOD . Reminds me of Fernandes Quality Control play like korean made ! but i was expecting it to be below RM1000 , turns out the guitar cost slightly cheaper than an epiphone , around 1800-2000 era ..it would be great it was slightly cheaper .
