Being Number One

I came from the legendary-happening-hot chick high school , SMKDJ . We call ourselves DJians.

We Djians are famous for

1) gangsterism

2) hot chicks

3) hot chicks

4) hot chicks , Cheerleaders

You see , during my school days . CHEERLEADING IS THE SHIT IN MY SCHOOL .We are always TOP 3 in this country and we DJians are very proud of it.

…but today ? after not being on top for 2 years in a row . We are no longer the big shot in town . Somebody has taken our place . We got pawned.

What to do ? records are meant to be broken right?

Heck , its been 7 years since i left high school . and it feels like it was just yesterday . I still feel sad about it.

What can we learn from here ?

It is harder to maintain number one , than to be number one .

You know , i often see guys that goes ..

“How to get a girlfriend ? Learn How to pick up a girl , strike a conversation , get her number , go for a date and score”

Now or days , it is easy to get a girlfriend . Plenty of lonely people in the market.

But , Maintaining a long lasting , healthy relationship , is MUCH harder than scoring the hottest chick in school.

….then there are guys who are super concern about body building and losing weight .

“I wanna reduce my fat by 2% by this July”

The fact is , Maintaining 1.235% fat in your body for the next 30 years  , is harder than achieving it .

Starting a blog is fun . Just go sign up . Have a bunch of thoughts , throw it inside and call it your blog.

Question is , can you maintain your blog for the next 2 years ? What if people stop visiting ? Will you be as motivated like today ?

Ask any blogger , is it easy to maintain a blog ?

Playing Forex and Shares in fun . You can earn RM20,000 in a month .

Question is , can you earn RM20,000 or more for the NEXT MONTH ? Can you earn MORE next year ? What about 10 years down the road?

You must have 100% Wins for the next 30 years . Can you ? No ? How are you going to get a stable income ? How are you going to plan for your future ?

If you are smart and career minded . It is not hard to find a job that pays RM8000 a month .

Question is , Can you maintain your RM10,000 lifestyle and commitments ?

Can you quit your job when shit happens?

It is easy to start a business . You go to China , collect some capital , grab a place , buy stocks. Viola ! you got yourself a business and you are a an entrepreneur.

Question is , how long can you sustain your business ?

Then , there are business owners , marketing gurus that set goals like …

“I wanna launch a product , hit 20,000 crowd , and achieve beyond my sales target”

The question is , can you maintain the SAME HYPE that you are creating today  , for the next month ? or the next year ? What about 10 years down the road ? Will you still be the market leader?

Youtube heroes are all around . All you need is a brand new idea , like a hot chick shredding , blind folded shredding , fake your age and say you’re 13 years old and shred..

Question is , how are you going to maintain your title as a youtube hero ?

Do You think Orianthi is able to maintain her “hot chick shredder” status? Not easy .

Malaysian Local Music Scene

Many Malaysians , complain about our local Music Scene .

Why can’t a Malaysian Artist go International ? Why can’t we be like the big names out there ? Why can’t we make it big .

Of course , there are MANY factors , from Malaysians don’t support Malaysians , Music we produced are Shitty ,  Market not big enough , No investors , No marketing , No funds , No proper label, No Touring Scene , No proper equipments , Piracy ..This one we can talk all day long lah ok ?

But one thing we seldom talk about is ..

Maintaining the hype

In the past , I’ve seen so many local bands that had SO MUCH POTENTIAL..

They had the HYPE for 1-2 years , They were up there . But Then , their hype died . They couldn’t maintain the hype .

Really , think about it . Where Jacklyn Victor went? What was Estranged’s Last hit after Itu Kamu ? Hujan ? New Single ?

We suck at Maintaining Number One .

Look at Black Eye Pees , Lady GaGa , Rihanna ….They are DAMN GOOD in Maintaining the top spot . Hit after hits . Hype after Hype.

Yeap , one thing we can learn from them .

In the music business ,

The question is not HOW to write the NUMBER ONE HIT SONG that will ROCK THE WHOLE COUNTRY AND GO INTERNATIONAL.

The question is , what’s gonna be your NUMBER TWO HIT SONG ?

If you CAN MAINTAIN YOUR HYPE . Get popular for a subtantial period of time . Make sure Your music is widely spread overtime . Gain greater exposure .

I believe you can be a very successful local artist .

But if you don’t know how to maintain your hype . maintain your fame . Your product life cycle is going to die very fast . You’re just a “in-thing-at-the-moment” . Not a legend.

This is an important success formula . You wanna make it BIG ? Learn how to make it big .

Before you wanna be number one , learn how to MAINTAIN number ONE .

Your band got a great song , good . Plan Ahead . Don’t just blast it all out at the Radio Station for the short term success. Yes , you get famous overnight , but what’s next ?

The next thing you know you have to compose a song that has to be better than your first hit . Then the whole band start scratching head .

Same for guitar playing .

It is easy to achieve your “top speed” on a good day . 25 notes per second ? Can …

Question is , can you maintain 25 notes per second for 2 minutes continuously?

It is easy to SWEEP PICK CLEAN , ONE TIME .

Question is , try 100 times . Can you get at least 95 Clean Sweep Picks ?

It is easy to be called “the best guitar player under 18″

Can you maintain that title ?

It is easy to be happy today .

Can you be happy tomorrow ? Can you be happy this year ? Can you be happy till you die ?

Sometimes , A straight constant line , is more complicated than a fluctuating one .
