Gapnap’s Discovery : Fake Guitars
Some of you who follows this blog , knows that i am against fake guitars .
Of course , most fake guitars are made in China . Even though i am here to check out some other stuff , i took the opportunity to study a little bit of the fake guitar industry , and spill it out in my blog !!
Thing about this place is , there are many random guitar shops . Its everywhere . and it appears at the least expected most random of all random ..such as ..
freakin’ random …
roadside ? lagi random
Inside…
This looks normal . But i found it in a shopping center . As in those malls like JUSCO with those T shirt and Perfume departments . Suddenly a section of musical instruments . Freakin’ random .
One thing in common about this random guitar shops is , most of them sells
FAKE GUITARS .
Yeah , Fake guitars is a problem in Malaysia . But in China , it is worse . Think about it .
What about reputable guitar shops in China that sells 100% real original guitars ? It difficult for them when everybody thinks all branded guitars in China are fake …
One of the ways to detect a reputable non fake guitar distributor in China is , Ask for the Cert ! Most of them will display it at their shop.
Here is an example of how a cert looks like . This is from one of the companies that i am dealing with in China ..
Alright , back to my discovery on fake guitars …
Fake Fenders . Package like how you package a school bag
What you’re seeing is a AAAA grade Fender Copy…probably RM1900 in Malaysia ,
Tested it . Surprisingly plays quite OKAY for a cheap guitar (see price below) . I have to give it to China . They are improving every year .
Here are some facts :
1) Retails for 780 RMB (That is about RM390 only ! hahaha to those who paid RM1900)
2) Alright , i will spill it out , don’t secret here and there . I asked for a wholesale quotation @ 200 pcs . I was offered 250 RMB per piece . Thats about RM125 !! imagine those who sell it for RM1900 . Untung banyak man !
.
Saw the white Jem there ? retails @ 600 RMB . Thats about RM300 !! LOL to those who paid Rm2200 …
Anyway , i think Fake guitar is a big problem in Malaysia ..
In China , the sellers will tell you right away they are selling a fake guitar . In Malaysia , people try to sell a fake guitar as the original one…how many times we’ve heard a dude who paid RM7000 for a fake Gibson..
I also found out that most of the fake guitar makers are actually OEM makers . According to them , There are no “fake guitar factory” .Means they just take orders from other people . They just make plain guitars and do whatever specification based on their client’s demand .It wasn’t their idea to make fake guitars in the first place . They have no choice , cause it is hard to earn a living in China . They take whatever orders that comes in…
And where does the orders come from ? The demand . The demand of fake guitars is HUGE . Thousands of fake guitars being sold every month .Many were shipped to Malaysia …If every Malaysian says NO to fake guitars , eliminate the middle man who orders them (they refuse to let me know who their client is) , they will STOP making fake guitars …
Anyway , i think for RM390 . The guitar is well build . Better than SX imo ..maybe i will just order a little bit ..put my own brand or something ..
Now what should i call my brand ?
I saw this…
Someone actually use my name to brand their guitar…i demand royalty !!!!!!!!

haha the pirated goods in China r really top of the class. too bad they don’t use the so-called better materials…otherwise the products would’ve lasted longer.
well, at least guitars won’t have the potential to explode like a fake iPhone….or the potential to destroy your face like a fake SK-II

There is a problem I’m facing in subscribing to your blog’s RSS feed in Google reader. The feed returns only two posts. Any fix for this? Thanks.
