Racism in the Music Industry

DOES IT EXIST ?

.
Music supposed to bring people together . Regardless of Race & Age .

I met a guy while i was walking in a local music store . He told me something really interesting. (jokingly)

in Malaysia ,

The professional musicians , Jazz Musicians , Upper class market - Mostly Dominated by the Indians
The Rockstars & Local Artist – Mostly Dominated by the Malays
The Event organizers , Retail & Wholesale of Musical Instruments – Mostly Dominated by the Chinese

No wonder i am a failed musician and a failed rockstar .

I am CHINESE !

My dreams shattered . Oh NO !

.
On a serious note . I think there are SOME truth to it . Do you think our different culture , language , surroundings & upbringing has anything to do with it ? Food for thought yo .

  1. I hate racism, stereotyping, whatever is affiliated to it. Fagbook racist, LYN dam fucking racist. I wonder if Jamtank is?

  2. The Shredders = Chinese

    FTW !

  3. Hillary Ang,every malay rock guitar player idolize him.
IMO he responsible to bring Eddie Van Halen kind of shred style to M’sia in early 80′s scene.

  5. @ariffdude . Stereotyping and racism is completely different thing though …Anyway , you’re in Malaysia . Why are you complaining about racism ?

@yong . Amen to that brother . muahaha

@Topa . I agree . But that is only one . The next Hillary Ang is going to be JD from pop shuvit :P

@echo . Kwai lo somehow thinks we can shred + kung fu . WTF

  6. bro, a bit off topic here.

  7. JD! no doubt bout it..Pop shuvit rules!!

  8. That maybe true for the past 10 years but still now things are changing…Few people are trying to change the scene, trying to diminished the stereotypical racism in the industry. Although we are not in the same religion or race, but we are still one…Once we can exterminate the brain that always think “we are better than other races” then we can live together as one…No point of arguing, make friends with all gain respect and you’ll gain more…

  9. aha ha ha ha ha………..

something is wrong somewhere with our music industry here in malaysia..

in late-70′s to 80′s up to 90 only.. – there’s a lot of band with multi-racial faces we can see in our local music scene. We don’t talk about what race they are.. they just jam together with the music that glue them together.

we have alleycat, Hillary ang, the indian shredder in band metallian (if i’m not mistaken..)

now.. we only see this in dinner show..

Yeah lah., me also playing in dinner show scene., most of my band mate made up from multi-racial.. we don’t say you must this and that races to be in the band. As long as you’re good.. you’re IN then.

I guess – musician mixed around well.. we don’t go stereotyping thing..

let music be the unifying force.. (as it used to be.. )
