Its Complicated . No , Its Simple
Its been a while since i blog about MOVIES .
You know , my all time favorite movie used to be City of God
I kinda wrote a little bit about it in this post
Right …the truth is , i used to be a MOVIE FREAK . Like , A REAL movie freak . Something like 3 movies in 2 days ? LOL .
Recently , (this year) ..i kinda slow down ALOT lah . Been busy with traveling & work .
I watched Shutter Island the other day . (I know , very outdated) .
Really , this movie gave me a big slap in my face .
I like “intelligent , complicated movies” . The story line that goes something like ..a small event occur , hero investigates further and found out that he is involve in something that is wayyyy bigger , wayyyy beyond his level . He is a small fry , in a bigger picture . Complicated Movies . Oh yeah !
Examples . Greenzone , The International , The last king of Scotland , Bourne Identity ..
I enjoy watching those .
But Shutter Island is a little bit different .
The show is about 2 hours & 10 minutes . I started watching at 12am . Guess what time i finished the movie ? 4am . 4 HOURS !!???? Why ? Because i keep referring back ..trying to figure what is going on..
At the end of the day , i realized i got pawned by my own expectations .
I WANTED the movie to be complicated.
I WANTED to movie to INTELLIGENT.
…but in the end , the movie is just a simple , straight forward story .

I was hoping that he is SANE . But really , after reading the imdb boards . The director purposely create this for “intelligent movie goers” to pawn them . Its simple , he is insane . Period .It is not complicated , it is simple .
I realized , how i’ve been living my life .
I tend to complicate simple things in my life . I tend to exaggerate it . Push it to the limit .
This movie is a big slap in my face , “CLEM , you love complicating things …at the end of the day , it is something really really simple ..really”
Same goes for people who are into conspiracy theories , or people who treats guitar playing like a surgery , people who research till the end of the world which guitar to buy , song witters who wanna write complicated songs (and the best songs are the simple ones) or people who wants to start a business .
Some things in life , is really really simple . For once , drop that “i am smarter & superior than everyone” attitude . Its YOU who want to complicate something simple .YOU want it to be true .
Shutter Island is , the best thinking movie i ever watch in my life . (IMO , better than Inception) .
The movie is too complicated , until it became simple .
If you haven’t watch it , go get the DVD . Its out .

hmm…funny thing, i only watch shutter island like 2 weeks ago. one question.
did you watch this movie after you watched inception and your friend goes like… “hey if you like this you will like shutter island?”

Not really . Shutter Island was in my MUST WATCH list since how many months ago …
I just watched Batman and the Red Hood . That was awesome too

wa, i havent watch. jz got the movie actually. but yeah, most of the time, simple things are made complicated by people who feel like owning others. if this someone can figure out such complicated issues, it means he/she is far more superior.
or that is what they love to think they are.
complicated things often end up as pretty simple stuff which can be solved without using complicated measures.

Agree! one of the best movies. Leonardo is really a good actor.
Agree # 2. We complicate simple things ourselves. I think it’s simply because we can’t believe it’s that simple that we have this urge to screw it up.

Woah we got the same thinking man, i mean for the movie. At first I thought Inception was best, but after thinking about it for a long time, it’s not very logical. Shutter Island however, is beautiful. A great twist in the end, like The Village.

Inception is the sequel to Shutter Island.
After he came out from his lobotomy, he cooked up a dreamworld in his head so he could see his children once again. ROFL

all u sane people hope that the fella in shutter island is sane.
but since i’m rather insane, i already want him to be: one of us, one of us, one of us…
so when it happened, i wasn’t shocked. it just felt right.
inception kinda felt like a modern version of the matrix.
