    LB music – haven’t been there
    victory – this one got some “bad reputation” among guitar buyers, just ask fellow sabahan shredders
    hollywood music – kkplaza branch was nicer although smaller

    LB Music – All I can say about them is good. I personally know the owner, Mr Richie. Super nice man. Great guitar tech too.

    Victory – Honestly, stay away. Lots of bad reputation. I’ve seen a few fake Fenders hanging up for sale. Generally bad la overall. (a fellow friend used worked there) Don’t wanna spill too much already.

    Hollywood – Kota Kinabalu’s most well known music store. Yup KK Plaza’s branch is nicer.

    Hollywood- more expensive, but pretty good service. Products are so-so
    LB- Boss is nice, but the shop is tiny, and their product line up is kinda sad to be honest.
    Victory- I have to defend it now. The young guy that used to look after the shop is no longer there. There are a couple of chinese kids who are fine. Much better now, but still their quality of service could be improved.
    Guitar point- My personal fav. Great tech and shop keeper. Very knowledgeable. Product selection is pretty decent.

    there is another one selling imported used guitar at Megalong, Penampang, never been there though. Well, my 2 cents syok would be Hollywood or its more syok if we can have MM studio kk branch

    Holywood, LB, & Guitar Point – awesome!!!!! fully rekomen!!!!

    Victory??? huhu only go there if the got 90% discount… this place suck!!!! worker dia ok but the boss suck!!! i pernah buat experiment pigi sana 1st pakai biasa saja t shirt n jeans haiya dia tengok me macam pencuri saja… nevermind .. second time i pakai smart kasual then tanya them about fender telecaster wow layanan terus bagus itu muka macam popeye the sailor main terus senyum macam org kena jackpot…. STAY AWAY FROM THIS SHOP!!!!!

    I live in KK and know these places reasonably well…

    LB MUSIC – Owned by Ritchie of Laserbeam/Finger style… always enjoyed their friendly chat and treatment.. stuffs cater for lower end of the market but a Boss GT10 here and there..

    GUITAR POINT – Used to hang out there whenever I sent my car for realignment to a shop nearby… friendly staffs.. the boss is a pilot I think, and said could get stuffs from Singapore.. stuffs quite varied with some expensive stringers like Gibson Les Paul, Fender US, PRS SE etc…

    HOLLYWOOD KK Plaza – my fave, staffs very friendly (coz maybe I bought lot of stuffs from them he he). Services & treatment top notch in my opinion. Stuffs quite varied. I can try stuffs here for hours…

    HOLLYWOOD Karamunsing – So so but has the most variety… more business like and normally quite crowded.

    And last but not least… VICTORY MUSIC, you can see a pattern going on here.. treatment wise to potential customers very bad especially this guy Steven ( I think that’s his name)… have not been there for quite a few years after a personal experience with this guy.. I was trying an acoustic guitar (it was only 10-15 mins) and he sarcastically saying to stop playing and buy it straightaway, WTF!, told him this is not how you treat your customers and stormed off,told myself not to come here anymore and cursed the place to go bankrupt… eventhough they can be the cheapest in town, I’d prefer to spend the extra dough, and which I did, at other friendlier stores…

    Anyway, I would recommend the top mentioned shops and stay away from VICTORY MUSIC!!!

    Victory-FWAKKK!!!! Never buy violins there!! Their violins are the lamest violin I’ve ever bought. Sounds is so freaking bad! Violin’s bridge is too high that make you very hard to play the strings! I don’t like their services too! :(
    Hollywood, Karamunsing-Nice instuments, friendly staffs :) ..what I unsatisfied with them is their services to my violin. The bridge is too blunt. And they also leave scars to my violin! ouch* :(

    p/s: I’m a violinist, soon to be a guitarist :p

    Yeah, I heard Victory has a very VERY bad reputation on layan-ing customers… A friend of mine just tap on the drum cymbal and then suddenly came the boss, furiously saying, ”mana yg ko ketuk??!!”… Walao, terus x jadi wanna buy the cymbal…
    Oh there’s one at Citymall, Yamaha shop, it’s outside of the mall though… if you go in through the main entrance, go 1st floor, go to the left exit/entrance , and then go right…
    At megalong pula is the Audio 96, sells recon instruments from Japan, yup, Japan… But although imported from Japan, ”made in” lain kira lah, lol… Sometimes you might find sumthing like discontinued models there too, and if you want a specific instrument you can always ask the boss there to help you search for it, dia tulung order tu =D …
    And they also got a jamming studio there too, and it’s pretty nice, too bad I don’t have any pics to put here, just gotta see it for yourself… =)

    holywud kk plaza d best!!!
    vintory punya crita..sy tme tu beli fender mexico hrga rm2600..compom beli la ni sda..tp dia punya pekerja yg prmpuan tu..kmu tau jga tu sapa dia..dia p telan rm300 owh..padahal dpt kurang smpai rm2000 sda..tp dia ckp rm2300 ja dpt kurang..tme mo pulang tdk resit memang sah la penipu..pa bleh buat..taik kambing bulat2..huhuhu..so as the conclusion..phm2 la pa yg baik buruk..hehe..God blez!!
